Starting out using acrylics and oils, Ringo was creating paintings for many years before he decided to start composing art on his computer in the late 90s. This “Greenwich” invasion is not as intense as the band’s arrival on American shores more than 50 years ago, but Glaser suspects the art will open a few eyes.These artworks showcase his visual talents as never before. Works range from about $500 and upward, but Glaser and Benincasa hope fans will simply come to see the work.Īs a kid growing up in Long Island, N.Y., Glaser saw the Beatles take the world by storm. Glaser plans to bring some paintings by Bob Dylan and a Warhol print of the Beatles he says is one of only four he knows about. “When you are blessed with the gift of creativity and artistic flair, you can express yourself in many, many ways.” “They each found a different muse with their instrument and voice, and I wasn’t surprised to see they each had a unique expression in the art world,” says Tiffany Benincasa, who started the gallery about five years ago. His bold faces and figures, and graphic symbols are as loose and groovy as his work behind the drum set. His forward outlook, and embrace of modern media means he continues to evolve and adapt his style. Starr, meanwhile, became a trailblazer in computer art, becoming an early adherent to MS Paint. He wanted to ensure his colorful landscapes and faces, often abstract, spoke for themselves and did not gain entry to gallery walls because of his celebrity. Despite numerous offers, it took him some time to exhibit his first show of more than 70 oil paintings was in 1999. McCartney began painting in earnest in the early 1980s, at the age of 40. (Another set is part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art.) In the parlance of music, they are rare tracks. A set of lithograph prints of those drawings, signed by Lennon, will be at the show. The works chronicle their wedding, honeymoon and call for peace.

In the mid-1960s, at the height of Beatles fever, he released two illustrated, well-received books, “In His Own Write” and “A Spaniard in the Works.” His sketches were a visual diary of his life, full of whimsy and pensive reflections, self-portraits and the faces of people, and creatures, real and imagined. Lennon began to sketch and draw as a child, earning entry into the Liverpool College of Art at 17, where he studied for three years. That never happened, given Lennon’s death in 1980 and Harrison’s in 2001, but Glaser thinks fans will be heartened to see the creative personalities of these influential artists together once again.Īll four members were creative entities long before they ever picked up an instrument. This penultimate convergence for fans would have been a musical reunion after the Beatles disbanded. It’s the first show in the gallery’s new space on Greenwich Avenue, and the first time these works by all four of the Beatles have been together in a show. This work has led him to Greenwich, where he is presenting signed works by three Beatles: McCartney, Starr and John Lennon, and a set of George Harrison song illustrations by British musician Keith West that are signed by Harrison.
He presents work by famous artists, as well as celebrities who happen to be talented artists. For more than 20 years, Glaser has run ArtCelebs, an art publishing company, and exhibiting and auction gallery that grew out of his private collection he gathered to decorate his former Litchfield home. He also is the distributor of fine art lithographs signed by Paul McCartney, the proceeds of which go to charities.
To work with one Beatle would be a feat, but Glaser has had the fortune to work with two.
